Words can’t really adequately express how shocked and sad I am at this news.
To Chris – it was an absolute pleasure to know and work with you. You were one of the very best - fun and lighthearted, serious when needed yet always cool as a cucumber with it (nothing ever seemed to phase you).
Thank you also for being the fantastic support that you were to me at times, and I hope I was able to offer you some of the same in return.
You genuinely made me feel a real part of the team and I’m so pleased we had the chance to work together closely as part of the IRMP team for so long. We all missed you when you went to Essex, glad we got to keep up our coffees and chats at Costa though.
I’ll always remember 2 things about you – your love of saying “100%” (someone at work said it the other day in the same sort of context and it made me smile and think of you), and the sign you used to have up in your office in Cambs saying “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right” – I never told you, but it inspired me on more than one occasion, and will continue to do so.
Rest in Peace mate, I trust you’ve found Mitch already and he’s giving you the grand tour.
And to Michelle, Alfie, Ruby & Evie – I’m so very, very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you all. Chris/your Dad really was one in a million and I hope that your many memories of happy times spent with him will see you all through this darkness. I also hope it brings you some small level of comfort to know that he lit up so many lives, and will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.
With lots of love to you all,
Sam Smith
