To Marigold, Josie, Hennie and Rob, I was in utter shock when I heard this terribly sad news. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss, Chris was such an incredible man and one that I truly respected. Both Chris and Marigold have been like my surrogate parents since I first met Josie at uni. You have both been so generous to me and let these extremely loud pals of Josie’s come and stay with you on so many occasions I have lost count! Chris always took such an interest in me and always asked for all my updates as I progressed in my career and lovelife! I would go as far to say that he showed a far keener interest in my PhD topic than my parents ever did- in fact I think he read most of it (which is much more than anyone else!) My best memory of Chris is his hilarious speech at Josie’s wedding where he really showed just how much he had paid attention to all her wonderful escapades and just how much love and how proud he is of all his children. I will miss Chris dearly and as soon as I am allowed I will come down and give all of you hugs and share more of my lovely memories of him. I am sending you all my love and prayers, Emily
