Charmian Ledsham

September 2, 1959 - January 21, 2021

Brothers of Charity Services (Scotland) It was with profound sadness that we learned that our Director of Care and Support and Chief Executive, Charmain Ledsham passed away suddenly on 21 January 2021. Charmian was a key pillar of our organisation and it was a privilege for us all to know and work with her. Charmian was an inspiration to so many of us - she led with dignity, respect, passion and professionalism and above all was true to the mission and values of this organisation.

I remember Charmian with warmth, in addition to all that’s been said, she also had a great sense of humour and quick wit. Always spoke lovingly of her family and kindness about everyone else, she was a great boss and taught me so much in my time at Brothers of Charity. A beautiful lady.

Andy shared this picture of him and Charmian at our Christmas Fayre in 2019 - he remembers that they had both just finished serving what Andy remembers as 100s of teas and coffees! Looking quite pleased with themselves...a great team.

Charmian was genuinely an inspiration to me, a compassionate, principled, intelligent woman who always displayed the qualities and expertise I looked up to. She was a great ally to my organisation but also me as a professional - she supported me wherever she could. She clearly cared deeply for people. She believed in the power of peer support and learning amongst professionals and providers and was always a postive force, championing the principles of collaboration and sharing over competition. I will forever be grateful to her for her support and take her spirit as a guiding light. My heart goes out to all of her family at this sad time. Deepest condolences. X
