Charlie was originally from Sheffield and after a life of adventure has now come home to rest. Son to Mick and Mo and dad to Max he will always be defined by his kind nature and the happiness he brought to those around him. All that met Charlie found a sincere and caring man who would go out of his way to help, and make them happy through good times and bad. Joining the Army in 1991 as a Royal Engineer Apprentice he deployed worldwide in roles to help and protect people around the globe. He served operationally in The Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan in a job he loved; Bomb Disposal and Advanced Search. His actions directly protected British Forces personnel and civilians caught up in conflict. Where Charlie excelled was interacting with people and as an instructor mentor he developed Soldiers, Officers, and the security industry in how to safely find and remove items designed to kill and maim. As a soldier Charlie was a true professional; on one hand he was a fit motivated Airborne Warrior capable of performing in the most hostile of environments and on the other could socialise and make all around him feel comfortable and engaged. Charlie left the Army in 2017 having reach the rank of Warrant Officer, positively impacting on so many friends, younger soldiers and his peers who now take his examples of humility and leadership into the future. After leaving the Army he transferred his skills to working overseas making new friends and helping to make some of the most devastated areas in the world habitable again by removing explosive ordnance. Outside of work Charlie was loved by many who appreciated his warmness and strong values for what was right. He could be relied upon to provide and support those closest to him, he drew great strength from providing for his family and making sure everyone was happy. People being happy was something that concerned Charlie deeply and he would often sacrifice himself for the benefit of others, he was in many areas completely selfless. Charlie has gone to soon, taken by illness at a time when he had everything to live for, he will be missed by many but forgotten by none.
