Years later he and Brigid visited us in our hometown Apeldoorn in the Netherlands where we also visited our family and the old farm where Marita was grown up.
We first met Cedric at his own place in Bulawayo after his daughter Dianne came home with a Dutch guy. That turned out to be a very pleasant stay. We even visited Cedric at his office where he was proud to show us his factory.
I met Cedric late last year - not under the best of circumstances as it was while visiting Brendan in hospital. I had the pleasure of seeing him again in Hoedspruit earlier this year. He had a delightful sense of humour and his optimism about life, despite his illness, was so refreshing and admirable. He was a true gentleman - honourable, generous, and courageous. May he rest in peace and remain forever in the memories of those who were privileged to know him.

Another good memory is the lunch we had together in a pavilion next to the river IJsel. He really enjoyed all the different landscapes of our country as much we always enjoy being in his kind of landscapes like visiting the bush. It was a big privilege knowing Cedric as the dad-in-law of our son, as khulu and building up a good relationship with him. We will keep all the good memories of him!
