Caroline was my Auntie Mame - she did things in her own way, regardless of what people thought. I always admired that about her. She carried that spirit throughout her life. She had an insatiable appetite for art - i remember getting dragged around for hours throughout galleries and museums wanting nothing more than to sit down for a meal! But her curiosity was infectious and inspiring.
Most memorable was when we went to see the movie Jaws when it first came out one summer while I was visiting with her and Sol in Roslyn. We were screaming and transfixed with the special effects. Needless to say, by the end of the movie, we were convinced that the actors must have gotten paid fortunes to have sacrificed themselves in that way!! Who would give up their lives for their art??? LOL - we were clueless.
Or what about sitting around the huge round table at the restaurant in Chinatown with Estelle and Sam and everyone else screaming for Har Gow!!! The poor restaurant owners couldn't bring them to the table fast enough!! And God forbid they should forget the spicy mustard!!
We love you Caroline - FOREVER!!!
