We are sad to announce that Bhaskar Bhowal, a much loved and respected friend and colleague passed away peacefully on December 22nd 2022 after a long illness.
Bhaskar was an Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon in Leicester.
His contributions include setting up and running the hand fracture course, which has run in Leicester for the last two decades and running the hand elective and paediatric hand service in Leicester.
He was the Principal Investigator on both the SWIFFT and DISC trials in Leicester and published extensively on hand disorders. His last paper on SNAC was accepted on the day he died.
He was Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics with an exemplary record and then Deputy Head of School of Surgery, East Midlands Deanery. He helped evolve the Trauma & Orthopaedic curriculum, Technology Enhanced Learning, and the BOA TOEs course.
Bhaskar was a staunch colleague and friend who is remembered by colleagues across the UK.
He was unstinting in his support for all that we did in Leicester for patients with hand disorders and will be much missed by patients, staff, and colleagues.
