Heaven gained who we lost. My beloved brother Bassey, I never thought I'll be writing a tribute about you. You loved God, your family, brethren and God's work with a passion. For you, being a Christian was having daily encounter with the Lord, not necessarily attending all church activities religiously. You always try to teach those of us close to you that a personal walk with the Lord on daily basis mattered the most. I understand better now why you emphasized that passionately. Bro Bassey, in you I saw a Christian who chose to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a moment like Moses of old. My brother, that was what I always called you. You were like a younger brother I did not have. Thank you for how you and your family stood by me and continue to be there for me during and after the passing of my darling sister you became more than family to me and I know your reward cannot be numbered in heaven. Thank you for all the times of checking on my nephews and I even when you are the one to be checked on. My brother, you kept assuring me of great things God has prepared in future. When I worried and tried to persuade you to accept one job interview I never knew you had already started seeing your mansions in heaven. You really lived your life with eternity in view like Jesus who seeing the crown endured the cross. You were indeed a model Christian. Oh when the saviour shall make up his jewels, when the bright crowns of rejoicing are won, then shall his faithful and weary disciples be remembered by what they have done.
Good night my beloved brother Bassey, I look forward to seeing you and my sister on the Resurrection morning or when my own life's journey is over. Rest on God's General.
