Barry was a musician, an electrician and all-round good guy. Never one to complain, he was kind, practical, supportive, patient and loving... a great role model!. He always had a smile on his face ... and a wicked sense of humour! He was son to Charlie and Ivy, brother to his siblings, husband to Geraldine, the "best dad in the world" to Jenny and Neil, brother-in-law to Eileen and Allan, uncle to Alex and Jon and a great friend to too many to list.

I used to love the times where we would have a jam round at the house with friends from the club... just picking up guitars, playing (badly, in my case) bits of a number of songs... fantastic time! Dad was always happy with an instrument in his hands!

I remember the time when Dad claimed not to be keen on the cat... but a little bird told me that when he got up in the mornings before us, he'd made a fuss of the cats! And certainly, for a couple of decades, every time I went home there was a cat firmly attached to dad's chest! He sat in the chair, whichever of the cats would climb onto him and he'd tuck his arm under...just so the cat had somewhere to safely snooze! What a softy!

The family joke also springs to mind... Neil and I always used to like dunking our bread in the soup and Dad hated us "playing with our food". This time... just after telling us not to dunk our rolls in the soup... Dad dropped his in his soup. Neil and I always tease ..."remember that day when Dad dropped his whole roll is his soup". I can just see Dad rolling his eyes now!

Dad... what can I say? My fondest memory is as a teen, crazy about a band called Aha! Dad said that we had to get ready to go out as he had an errand to run for a friend... well I was not best pleased as Aha were going to be on Blue Peter. Anyway off we, the whole family, had to get washed and polished to go to run this "errand" - and we get there - to the Albert Hall. And who happen to be playing there later that night... yes, Aha. I saw all the ticket touts and merchandising and I begged and begged dad to get a ticket... but no, we were there for this errand. I had to pass all these fans who were lucky enough to be going in to see the band that I loved.. and I was just there on an errand. Well we are all taken into the office and I am handed an envelope. I looked confused and Dad said "open it". So I did. There were 4 tickets to the concert... in the best seats in the house. I was so surprised.. the concert was fantastic! I really think Dad went over and above! What a star!
