The boy from East Ham sure came a long way…
Born in Stepney and raised in East Ham, London, Arthur went to school at the famous Bryanston School on a scholarship and served in the Royal Air Force after finishing school. Arthur found the lure to Australia too irresistible and settled in Brisbane with his young family.
A man of many pursuits he loved to travel, had an insatiably keen ear for his look-a-like, Leonard Cohen – hence the nickname Lenny! His affection for West Ham United and everything football led him to founding, coaching and administration roles at his local Rochedale Rovers.
He was eternally young at heart our Arthur. He had a great sense of humour and a love for life. His energy and generous nature will be sorely missed.
Arthur is survived by his children Sarah and Simon from his first marriage to Chris, long-term partner Bernadette, step-daughters Bridget (and fiancé Brendan), Gabrielle (and husband Matt) and Stephanie; son-in-law Lawson; and grandchildren Simbarashe, Sebastian and Harriet.
RIP boy from East Ham.
