Arlene Kaufmann, wife of Jerome (Herb) Kaufmann, was born in Buckley, Illinois in 1931. It was there that she met Herb and they would be together for the rest of their lives. Their love for each other was incredible to see.
They would move around a bit over the years (Illinois, California, Indiana, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Colorado) as Herb progressed through various teaching jobs and eventually became a text book author.
She was an incredible mother to her daughter Kathrin and son Kent. And equally incredible mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Arlene was kind and loving.
When Herb first started writing text books Arlene would type them on a manual typewriter. She typed thousands and thousands of pages of math text books. And proofread them as well.
She was a remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider:
- Donations to JDRF.org in her name. She had a granddaughter and a nephew with type 1 Diabetes
- Donations to parkinsons.org in her name as both she and Herb had Parkinson's
- Donations of time or money to charities that benefit our youth. She believed in people and in our youth in particular.
