It took me a few days to write these words. I was subconsciusly postponing this painful moment as much as I could. But here I am remembering Anne with tears in my eyes. I closely worked with Anne for many years, first when she was leading the EU Food/ag project, then throughout the Meat campaign. I also had the privilege to spend a year leadership training with her where we got to know each other also on a personal level. I consider Anne a friend, not only a colleague, since we regurlarly talked about our feelings, aspirations and dreams. From a professional point of view, Anne was an outstanding leader. She led with emphathy, like not many are able to do, and she was always result oriented. She cared deeply for her projects and her team. A true leader indeed. From a personal point of view, Anne was a caring mother, always thinking about her children. She had a great sense of humour and, as an Italian, we always teased each other out on which culture has the best food, the most beatiful language and the most fashionble style. Our meetings always had a serious/"business" part, a personal part, and a laughing hard part. I just would like to conclude with a personal message for Anne's parents, brother and children. Although we do not know each other, I hope we will be able to meet one day so we can tell you personally our stories about Anne. Stories you probably do not know as they belong to her professional life, but that will make you even more proud of her. I will carry these memories in my hearth while I will be able to share them with you one day. My deepest condolences. Alessandro Saccoccio (Greenpeace International)
