Anna Buchanan, 69, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1956, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, family, and unforgettable memories.
Anna was born into a large and loving family to her parents, Anna Magerko Rafferty and Michael Rafferty, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings: sister Katie Pacheco and her late husband, Dr. Jose Pacheco; brother Michael Rafferty and his wife Hope Rafferty; brother George Rafferty, who predeceased her; and brother David Rafferty and his wife Gail Rafferty.
Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her loving husband, William Buchanan jr; her son, Shawn O’Neil; her stepdaughter, Michelle Fuller; her grandchildren, Shawneica Ciulla and her husband Nathan ciulla , and Brayden O’Neil; and her step-grandchildren, Aniastanya Raines, Alliyah Wormuth, and Jeffrey Fuller. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Anna devoted 25 years of her life working at Walmart as a cashier, where she truly loved her job and the people she met along the way. She was known throughout the Walmart community as “Coupon Anna” because of her passion for finding deals, clipping coupons, and helping others save money. For Anna, couponing wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way of life. She loved teaching others how to find the best deals and sharing her knowledge with everyone around her.
Even after spending many years working at Walmart, Anna still loved visiting the store to see what new deals she could discover. Shopping, saving, and sharing her finds brought her so much joy.
Anna was known for her fun, vibrant personality and her ability to make life more enjoyable. She loved music and could often be found in her car singing along and enjoying her favorite songs. Her playlist was as colorful and energetic as she was — one moment she might be singing along to “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys, and the next she would be dancing and having fun with “Don’t Cha” by the Pussycat Dolls. She brought laughter, excitement, and happiness wherever she went.
Anna’s bright spirit, kindness, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though our hearts are broken, we will continue to celebrate the joy she brought into our lives and the many memories she left behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, 1-4pm at Cross Roads of Life Church, 18 Exchange Street, Binghamton, NY 13901. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the beautiful life of Anna Buchanan.
