45 years ago I entered the boxing ring against a fellow junior marine, Sandy Kingston. This was part of our bonding and Commando training.
Ever since then we have remained close friends and “brothers”. Sandy has always been the consummate professional & always there if you needed him.
In our later days we formed the northern contingent of our recruit troop, and attended Corps Birthday dinners at 43 Commando RM in Faslane. On one particular dinner, the unit Padre noticed a few of us in DJs & medals. He asked who we were, Sandy informed him we were 213 Troop veterans from 1975, the Padre responded by informing us he was he wasn’t even born then, Sandy then replied your round then Bishop!
Sandy, you were a gentleman through & through and I am proud to call you my “mucker”, RIP mate. Sincere condolences to Val & family. Gone far too soon.
