Albert John DiCostanzo, 89, of Bradenton, FL passed away December 21, 2018 with his loved ones by his side. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased in death by his sister, Josephine DiCostanzo. Al was an avid golfer, eternally pursuing that elusive perfect game! He also enjoyed watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, traveling, reading (especially the subject of history), grilling and spending time with his family, including Beau, their dog. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Avenue, Anna Maria, Florida 34216. Anyone lucky enough to have met Grandpa Al will likely never forget the experience. He was a force of charisma, warm, twinkly charm, a mischievous sense of humor and a beautiful, wide smile (which he passed down to my dad and aunts!) I have so many memories of Grandpa Al hosting us at Anna Maria Island over the years. He always woke up before us and made us breakfast and endless (endless!) sandwiches to take to the beach. Going out with him there was like being related to a famous person — everyone loved him and was quick to share stories about him. The last time I saw him he was moving slowly and having a harder time with his memory and conversation, but he was still very much himself (for example, telling my mom how she always "classed up the operation.") Now, I see so much of his big heart, humor, and storytelling in my Dad and Aunt Lucy and Laura, to me he lives on through them.
