Adam Barry

September 5, 2006 - April 25, 2020

Adam was that larger than life character with an incredible smile and sense of humour to go with it. He was one of the most polite young men that you could ever wish to meet, and always made time to ask how things were with you. You were such a bright star Adam you will always be remembered and forever sadly missed.

It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know Adam since he first entered my music class in year 9. Reading everyone's memories of Adam is a true testament to how effortlessly kind, funny, selfless and honest he was. I have been lucky enough to see even more of Adam recently as he has also been having guitar lessons with me over the last few months. You only had to talk to Adam for a few minutes to know how passionate he was about music. I think this extreme love of music helped him appear so naturally talented and creative. Adam surprised and impressed me with what he got up to musically outside of school, he had taught himself how to produce his own music at home before he even started year 9. He also did an amazing job of teaching himself to play guitar before I got on board to work with him. Most guitar lessons with Adam would end up being at least twice as long as they should have been because we were still enjoying having a jam or talking excitedly about a song. This became so much of a problem that I had to arrange Adams guitar lessons to happen after school to prevent either of us from being last for our next lesson. Quite a few teachers have mentioned Adam arriving late to class, and this could well have been why, sorry! The news of Adam passing has been devastating and very difficult to come to terms with. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all his friends. Thank you Adam for brightening up our days.

My memories of Adam there’s loads he was so bright, funny, caring and the most humble person I had ever met, One of my favourite memories was when we were on ft and he was playing his guitar he said he was nervous but he was so great at it. We spent that hole time on ft till around 2 in the morning, making jokes and planning jokes we were gonna say in school that we would only get :’/. My heart goes out to everyone and he will be missed but never forgotten, he’s the best angel up there

My memories of Adam are that he was a charming and incredibly funny lad, who had the amazing ability to connect with everyone, by "simply" using a smile and a bit of humour, I'm pretty sure he had running jokes with everyone. For about a year whenever I taught him he would come out with the catch phrase "orangutan? really?", at some point in the lesson. I will miss seeing him in lessons because he always managed to lighten them up.

Adam was always a throughly lovely, polite young man who always smiled. Morning break time in the hall, it was a standing joke that Adam always needed to extend his tie and tuck in his shirt. Mr Goodall and I always joked that Adam somehow managed to create the smallest tie we’d ever seen. Adam, you brightened any day with your big smile and cheerful nature. You will be missed very much.

id always used to look forward to business with adam. he was the jokest lad in business, always making people laugh with his natural humour and although he had his ups and downs, he just wanted to make people happy. i have so much respect for this lad. as soon as he walked into business you knew it was going to be a sick lesson. but things are definitely not going to be same without him. much love RIP my bro

Knowing Adam and being really close with him made me feel like I had another brother at school, he’d put anyone else before himself because he always needed to make sure everyone else was fine. We’ve sang some Michael Jackson together and it was brill I just wish we could do it again Adam, I’ll always miss and love you, you was like family, forever in my heart Adam Barry xx

I never knew Adam as well as many other people. We only spoke a couple of times and one of them was just him laughing at a cheesy joke I made one time. he was a very nice person and when I heard the news it hit me hard leaving me in anger and confusion. Rest easy Adam, school won't be the same without you :(

After a week of being Adam's tutor, the comparison to myself and Alfie Wickers off Bad Education was made by him. Still till this day I never knew whether to take that as a compliment or not. He was such a kind, funny lad, who cared for people so much, everyday making sure myself and Miss French were okay and asking if we'd had a good weekend. I remember countless times having to unsuccessfully hold my laughter back after another inappropriate joke that had everyone in fits of laughter, a grin and a shake of the head would usually do the job! As well as kind, funny and caring he was incredibly talented. Frequently, he would come to me and play a song that he had recorded when playing his guitar. He would wait nervously for my approval and the grin on his face was a picture when I recognised the song, thinking I wouldn't know it at the grand old age of 23!!! Even through lockdown he was finding ways to make me laugh and brighten my day, taking the mick out of my rubbish attempt at learning a language by replying in Spanish. School life for myself, the staff, the kids and the community will not be the same without Adam Barry. I'll Miss You Mate. Love Alfie Wickers

"Alright Miss! Are you ok? Nice weekend?" was something Adam said every time he saw you. When supporting in Adam's English class, you knew that it would be an hour (or a little less, as Adam was usually late) full of laughs! When reading 'Of Mice and Men', Adam's impression of Lenny was one of the best I have ever heard! He'll be remembered as a happy, polite, funny, young man who had a fantastic sense of humor & never liked his shirt being tucked in. Fly high Adam, Rest in Peace and continue brightening up every ones day! ❤️

Adam Barry, what a charmer! I knew that when I had a class with Adam that there would never be a dull moment! Often arriving late to lesson, with his shirt untucked he would greet you with a huge smile and get straight into conversation with ‘Miss how are you? Did you have a good weekend? Followed by one of his many jokes which had the whole class laughing, he definitely knew how to avoid doing the work. I will remember him as a kind, happy, mature young man with an infectious smile that lit up any room. Adam you will be greatly missed, but as you lit up the classroom you will now light up the sky as one of the brightest stars. Sleep well, and fly high!

I'll admit, me and Adam weren't the closest of friends. We never really spoke to each other often and we weren't in any of the same lessons. However upon reading the news, my heart sank, and I couldn't get over it. Adam was funny, exciting, he always knew how to cheer someone up when they were feeling down, and although at times he could be a bit of a pain, he meant well. It is very touching to see all the messages that he has been given over social media. It shows how much people loved him for who he was and how much of an impact he was in other peoples lives. If I could think of a memory of him, it would probably be in any P.E. dodge-ball lesson. He always knew how to make the P.E. teachers laugh in ways I couldn't even imagine, which is why I kind of look up to him in a way that all his friends do. My thoughts and condolences are with his mates, his family, and all that knew him. It's upsetting to see Adam be taken from us so early in his life, but it's important for us to look back on the memories and remember Adam as the boy who made us smile. Rest in Peace Bazzers, you will be dearly missed.

I never taught Adam, but I would often see him around school or in student services and as everyone has said, he was always smiling and entertaining us all with his great sense of humour and lovely nature. On a few occasions, he held the door open for me even though I was still quite a way down the corridor. I tried to give him 'golden tickets' for this, but he never wanted to take them as to him, holding the door open for someone wasn't going above and beyond; it was just how he was - kind, respectful and happy. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this horrific time.

Adam Barry, otherwise known as Bazza to some was a caring and humble young man who would always greet me with a smile whenever he saw me. I'd often remind Bazza to tuck in his shirt, quite often upto 3 times a day. He never failed to make the class laugh with his pranks, including planting a small bluetooth speaker during one lesson, which I managed to find after some 15 minutes. Bazza would often stay behind after or lesson and help tidy the classroom whilst having a conversation about music. Whenever I had lunch in the cafeteria he would always come sit on my table and spend lunch making me laugh with his jokes. It was a great pleasure to teach you Adam and you shall be truly missed.

there was never a moment where he would stop smiling. if he was needed by a friend or someone who needed help, he was there and was always able to get a laugh out of you no matter how hard you tried not to give in. he was one of the only people who could pass on positive vibes by just being in a room. school and the lessons people had with him, will never be the same. i bet you're fitting in just fine up there. fly high, adam ❤️

Adam Barry...frequently late to my class and usually arriving with your shirt untucked but always with a great big grin on your face and a "miss I'm not going to lie I've got no excuse" or a miss I can't lie....followed by a tale of a toilet visit that we had to interrupt quickly to prevent too much detail. It was impossible to be cross when you were so open and you knew it. That is how I will remember you, completely honest, always smiling and telling jokes and so thoughtful taking time out to ask how I was, how other students were and to ask after our weekends. You frequently had the class laughing and found it hilarious when you caught me trying to not to react to your latest joke and usually failing. You always brightened my day just like you must have done with anyone whose path you crossed and I know you will be missed by an enormous number of people who will keep your memory alive. RIP Adam...it was an absolute pleasure and honour to teach you.

He would annoy you so much but know when to stop, he never went to far. He used to sit at the table at lunch, feet on the table throwing whatever wrappers he had at you and you couldn’t help but laugh because he would make you smile. You were so talented and I’m so sorry you couldn’t go as far as you deserved with it. You’ll be missed by everyone x

Adam sat right in front of me for the whole of year 8! He often made me laugh and ALWAYS had a smile on his face! He would always ask me if I was ok and if I had had a nice weekend etc. Such a polite, charming young man. More recently he'd walk past me when I was on duty and always stop and have a quick chat. He was a genuinely nice person. I will miss seeing his smiley face around school. Rest in Peace Adam x

My favourite memory’s with Adam was going back to his after school, going up into his room. I would change into one of his hoodies and get into bed while he either played the guitar and I watched him play or he would get in bed with me and wrap his arms around me and whisper really cute things to me and then we would fall asleep together. I will never love anyone as much as Adam. He will always own my heart ❤️
