Tribute to A Pillar to the Body of Christ - Dear Pastor Abiodun Wilson Akanni I wish this was a dream, but it’s obvious the master has better plan for you dear brother and Pastor Abiodun Akanni...your last communication with me (on 1st of Feb, 2021) was that of faith and assurance that you were getting stronger and better...little did I know. No you didn’t die, you are simply sleeping to wake up at the other side! You have been taken away from the evil that was to come and no doubt Resurrection Morning is coming when we shall all meet again. You were unequivocally a selfless, dedicated, respectful brother and pastor. I thank God for bringing someone like you across. As a soldier you were always on “call of duty”! You ran your race with utmost diligence and commitment...I recalled the last assignment we had together - “Joy to the World” program and Carol service. What about the Passover dance...you were simply an available vessel meet for Master’s use. Your dedication to King’s business was further proven when you embraced without complaint, the responsibility of revamping a parish and the testament outlived you because you did exceptionally well. You put excellence in all you do - a man of many parts! You ensured congregants were comfortably seated, ensured ambient worship environment was created and kept to the mandate of ensuring uninterrupted flow of service. You were always there...One cannot ask for anything more in a vessel...we say thank you for setting the standard. You encouraged us as an unassuming minister and teacher of the word, graced with willingness to impact and learn! You taught with unparalleled simplicity and unction. You told us fear was not from God on 03-Jan-21 (Sunday School) and we should not give in irrespective of the challenges we are in. Thanks for the few times we have shared the word together. You were indeed a pillar to the body of Christ and to Goshen specifically! You were always there before others and left late until everything was in order. No doubt any church that is blessed with 2 or 3 wealth of resources (like you) is indeed a blessed church. Your impact as Minister in Charge of Choir was positively felt. From your first cry to your final breadth, Jesus (Oluwa as you love to address Him) truly commanded your destiny and has decided to say “come home thou faithful servant”. We shall sorely miss you greatly but our consolation lies in the fact that you chose the best path - you were at your duty post; you held unto the fort till Master came calling! Our loss here has suddenly became Heaven’s gain. May the Lord console all of us at this time, especially your immediate family and the church. May God’s plans concerning our sister and the wonderful boys you left behind never be truncated. Rest on Dear Brother and Pastor. Till we meet at the Resurrection morning... Adieu!
