Mrs Abimbola Coker was born in 1953 to Babatunde Ibironke and Christiana Ogunleye.
She attended had her primary school education in St George's Primary School, Falomo, Ikoyi, Lagos.
She attended Marywood Grammar school Ebute Metta from 1967 to 1971 from where she obtained her West African School Certificate with what was then known as Grade one result.
She proceeded to University of Ife ( now known as Obafemi Awolowo University) where she obtained her LL.B degree in law with an 2nd class (Upper) division.
She was called to the Bar as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1978 after a successful one-year course at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
She served the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps first at The Legal Aid Council and then at the Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank, Kaduna.
She was employed as a Legal officer at the Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank in Kaduna in 1980.
Subsequently, she obtained a Master of Arts (Government) degree from the New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, USA in 1985.
She joined the Nigerian Law Reform Commission in 1987 where she was at various times, Chief Legal Draftsman and Director of Legal Drafting Dept.
In 2006, she was appointed Secretary/Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission where she served until 2011 when she retired from governing service.
She was in private practice and private business since then.
